Before we begin, let’s take 5 and get to know the real Mike Reed

Full Name: Mike Reed

Date of Birth: 3th July 1990

Place of Birth: Leicester

Family Members:  Dad, Kevin, played football for Leicester City FC in 1978/79.  Brother, Richard, is the assistant pro at Hollinwell (Notts Golf Club).

Handicap: Turned Pro on +2

Marital Status: Single but dating the lovely Chloe

Drives: Ford KA

Hobbies outside of Golf: Spending quality time with the boys and my girlfriend (of course)

Favourite Food: Italian. Although Nando’s is always a good one.

Favourite Drink: DR Pepper. The best drink ever.

Favourite Course: In the UK it would be Royal Birkdale. Outside of the UK, Redstone (Texas, USA) jut for the Greens

Favourite Golf Brand: Titleist

Favourite Player(s) of all time: Luke Donald.

Who would you most like to meet: Luke Donald. He plays the game properly, not like Bubba

Best Piece of Advice Given: My best advice came from my Dad. He said that “you can only use what you have on the day. Some days the swing just isn’t there but when it is, you have to make the most of it”

Best Round: The Open Qualifying Round at Finham. -5 on the 17th Tee. I then looked at the wrong page on my yardage book and overshot the green by 50 yards. I made Double Bogey but got into the Final Qualifying round on the 2nd hole in an 8 way play-off.

Worse Round (be honest): I honestly don’t know. I discard them from my memory straight away and concentrate on the good ones.

Any pre-game superstitions: I don’t have a routine. I always have a good routine which I follow. A good breakfast, plenty of water and a quick warm up on the range. I like to be left to it though with no distractions.

What advice do you have for High Handicappers: Short game is everything. One chip and 2 putts will lower any high handicappers score.
